March 2026 - Inbound LNG supply at risk due to Strait of Hormuz closure declared by Iran on 2 March 2026 following US-Israel war. Terminal physically operational but incoming cargoes disrupted. December 2025 - The project has a capacity of 22mntpa; August 2024 - QatarEnergy has signed a 15 year deal with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation to supply up to 3mntpa of LNG at the terminal; As per November 2021, The terminal, which started testing in July 2021, has recently completed trials of the regasification facilities and the storage tanks and began commercial operation; In January 2020, Kuwait Petroleum has signed a long - term contract with Qatar Petroleum to purchase 3mntpa of LNG
