January 2026 - TotalEnergies has restarted construction at the project; July 2025 - TotalEnergies SE is in talks with the Mozambican government to create the right conditions for restarting work at the project; January 2025 - The project won't be operational by 2029 due to security issues and the ongoing force majeure; July 2024 - TotalEnergies hopes to restart construction of the project this year but for now force majeure remains in place; April 2023 - TotalEnergies has received greenlights from Government of Mozambique to restart operations at the project; TotalEnergies has declared force majeure on the project in April 2021; As per May 2020, TotalEnergies has secured USD14.4bn funding for project from a group of around 20 lenders; Project Cost - GBP15.5bn
