Status Notes

March 2026 - Construction timeline at risk due to 2026 Iran war. QatarEnergy declared force majeure on 4 March 2026; Strait of Hormuz closure disrupts equipment and supply chain delivery. Project completion previously targeted mid-2026 now expected end-2026 at earliest, potentially 2027. January 2026 - Engineering, procurement and construction works are under way at the project; August 2024 - Qatar Energy is in talks with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) for a new long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the project; June 2024 - QatarEnergy has signed a sales and purchase agreement with CPC Corporation for supply of 4mntpa of liquefied natural gas from the project; In October 2021, Qatargas has commenced construction of the project; Qatar Petroleum has taken FID for the project in February 2021; The project will increase Qatar Petroleum's LNG capacity to 110mntpa from 77mntpa
