June 2026 - ExxonMobil has signed a heads of agreement with Vopak and Transnet to jointly develop the terminal; November 2024 - Project expected to come online in Q128; March 2024 - Vopak and Transnet Pipelines are testing the market's interest in regasification and storage capacity at their planned LNG terminal; January 2024 - South Africa has selected Vopak consortium as the preferred bidder to develop and operate the terminal; July 2023 - Transnet National Ports Authority has issued a request for proposals for the detailed engineering, design and construction of common user infrastructure at the terminal; August 2022 - Transnet's subsidiary Transnet Pipelines (TPL) is looking for a partner to develop the proposed terminal
