November 2025 - Harvest Midstream Company has closed the acquisition of the project; February 2025 - Harvest Alaska has agreed with Marathon Petroleum Corp. and Chugach Electric Assoc. to buy the existing Kenai LNG plant and repurpose it to be a regasification terminal; December 2023 - Marathon is looking at turning the plant into an import facility; July 2023 - The plans to convert export terminal into an import terminal has been announced; October 2022 - The terminal is currently targeted for transition to an import terminal for Marathon Petroleum Corp.; August 2022 - Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved request for extension of deadline to 2025 to convert the export plant into an import terminal; Andeavor subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corp. has received US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval to convert its Kenai LNG liquefaction plant into an import terminal in December 2020
